Laser

Type of workshop: School-wide workshop

It is possible to laser cut and vacuum form in the workshop.
Laser cutting is focused on controlling the output of a high-power laser, through optics. The CO2 laser is capable of processing a wide range of organic materials. The most common application is for cutting PMMA (plexiglass), where it can cut materials with a thickness of about 15 mm, from wood, plywood, rubber, paper, most plastics or textiles, and cardboard.
Vacuum forming is a simplified version of thermoforming, where a plastic film is heated to a forming temperature, stretched into a single-surface mold, and extruded into a mold by vacuum.
