The Art and Technology Studio is a shared space: a hub, a laboratory for thought and artistic practice. It embraces an intermedial character, supporting various formats across artistic media. We view technology as an extension of our creativity, aiming to push beyond its inherent limitations while remaining aware that not every problem in the world is technical. In the studio, the emphasis is on reflexive work with technology—not only as a tool for artistic practice but also as an infrastructure that we both inhabit and that inhabits us. We perceive the relationship between art and technology as a two-way flow, a continually evolving space that should neither be feared nor idealized. We believe that artistic practice is a valuable method for revealing, reconsidering, and re-materializing the complex interactions between technology and the world, beyond traditionally dominant frameworks of thought.
The focus of artistic work in the studio lies in dialogicity—the opportunity to engage with technological tools beyond their primary functionality and to discover or create alternative methods for exploring the world, outside the frameworks of science or those inherent to existing technologies. The studio supports a range of methodologies for artistic practice and engagement with technology: from interdisciplinary artistic research and experimental work with new media to purely material practice. We welcome the potential for overlapping established forms of artistic expression, which can lead to hybrid morphologies and unexpected genres. We encourage critical thinking, deduction, and the development of a conscious attitude, but we equally value the sincerity and intuition that emerge from motivations beyond rational reflection.
