Research
Czech and Czech-German Women Painters in the New Reception of 19th Century Art History. The dissertation research focuses on the work of German-speaking women artists from the Czech lands in the second half of the long 19th century and integrates their work back into Czech art history. It deals with questions of the relationship between language and culture. It maps the infrastructures of artistic activity of Czech-German women artists not only within the Czech lands but also in the German-speaking environment of Central Europe. It traces the international study and exhibition network created by German-speaking women artists from the Czech lands at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries between Munich, Berlin, Vienna and the Czech lands. The research aims not only to bring women artists back into Czech art history, but also to reintegrate the minority of Czech-German women artists.
