Bookbinding course - winter semester

Course description:

The Bookbinding course is divided into two parts. In the winter semester, participants will be presented the following binding techniques - softcover V1-V4 binding (various sections of the notebook are sewed or glued together at the spine, the cover is made from heavier paper), V5 binding, making concertina books. As the picture frame mounting techniques will also be included the teaching of making concertina books might be presented in the spring semester. In the spring semester, participants will get familiar with V7-V8 binding (attaching to stiff boards).  

During this course participants will adopt the basic bookbinding skills (paper shaping and binding), learn how to handle bookbinding tools and operate bookbinding machines (cutter-trimmer machine, paper holes drilling machine, wire binding machine), get to know various kinds of book materials (paper, cardboard, paper board, bookcloth, adhesives etc.), adopt the basic knowledge of the bookbinding decoration techniques (paper marbeling and embossing).

The course is intended both for beginners and advanced students The maximum number of participants is 10 people which enables an individual approach to each participant.

After completing the course, participants can be awarded the Certificate of Course Completion.

Price: 7.000 CZK/semester (32 academic hours; the price includes all materials)

20% discount for high school and university students (only applies to full-time study) with a valid certificate of study issued by their school.

Payment must be made one week before the course starts at the latest. If cancelling after 20. 1. 2017, a cancellation fee of 20% from the total price will apply.
Payment by bank transfer to the account No. 19-5599810247/0100, variable symbol  1615022, constant symbol 308. The participant´s name must be stated in a note.
