Aesthetics and material alone cannot fully capture the intricacies of today's world. Therefore, it is essential for students to acquire tools that will help them observe, analyze, and reflect on a wide range of topics, from abstract philosophical concepts to personal, urgent concerns. We aim to cultivate students’ ability to strengthen their intuition, develop original ideas, and adopt a critical perspective on the world around them.
Hands-on material experimentation and the development of technical skills - especially in metalworking and other materials - are key components of our approach. Craftsmanship is seen as a discipline that requires both curiosity and a tolerance for mistakes. In this studio, failure and risk are integral to the creative process, teaching students to embrace unexpected outcomes, rationalize intuition, and view improvisation and uncertainty as valuable tools for creativity. This mindset fosters confidence in the process and nurtures independent design skills.
Ultimately, our goal is to shape independent thinkers and makers who are not swayed by market trends or external pressures. Graduates of the K.O.V. studio will emerge with a strong sense of responsibility and an understanding of design as a powerful tool for making meaningful change.
