The Guest Artist Studio is organizing a workshop and a lecture by painter Kateryna Lysovenko Beyond Language.
This project is being co-financed by the Europian National Recovery Plan and the Ministry of Culture.
I used to think that painting was a language. Now I find it is rather a hole in the language, a gap, something like spaces between the threads of a fabric, through which you can get a glimpse of what the language is hiding from you.
The public talk is part of a workshop for UMPRUM students. In the workshop, we will take a look at big mythological bodies, with which we cover our reality. The workshop will take place at UMPRUM KVU workspace, Dec 16-18, from 10 a.m.
Kateryna Lysovenko is an artist working in monumental painting, painting, drawing and text. Kateryna is engaged in the study of the relationship between ideology and painting, the production of the image of the victim in politics and art, from antiquity to the present day. Lysovenko looks at painting as a language that can be instrumentalized or liberated. She lived and worked in Kyiv, Ukraine before the Russian invasion. Now based in Vienna.
