The KVU Gallery is a platform for diverse (not only exhibition) projects organized by the Department of Fine Arts UMPRUM.
The exhibition presents a selection of works by first-year students of the Department of Fine Arts UMPRUM, which, as a personal fundus and collective archive, enter into a dialogue with the specific space of the architectural studio (and former nightclub) of Diptych Gallery. First-hand, direct and immediate, they form a collective polyphony through which they recapitulate one's emerging artistic career. Stressing the paradox of recapitulating something emerging, the exhibitors loosely relate to phenomena such as frustration with various contemporary crises and nostalgia for the carefree period of their childhood years, external destruction as well as the internal ambivalence between the idea of success and disappearing certainties.
In a direct way, they reveal their emotions - their cards with which they enter the art world - allowing insight into the shared feelings and individual stories associated with the selected works. In each layer, the exhibition touches on different forms and shapes of safety, the idea of an ideal environment of possible slowing down and support: "Everyone creates some safe-space differently, in a compromise between two or more subjects, and sometimes it is more about safe-moments rather than a permanent space."
