UMPRUM's Fashion and Footwear Design Studio will present itself at the prestigious Paris Design Week + Maison & Objet show in Paris in the attendance of its head Liběna Rochová. For this occasion, they will present their project VIVE LA FRANCE inspired by French culture, history, art, or personalities at the Czech Centre Paris. Liběna Rochová will feature her pieces from the INSIDE 23 collection.

VIVE LA FRANCE and INSIDE 23

VIVE LA FRANCE, a collection of 15 selected models by students of the studio, is united not only by the theme but also by a very thorough preparation and execution. Detailed research preceded each collection. The proposed models were then created with reference to haute-couture workmanship, with an emphasis on craftsmanship and a large amount of handwork.

Inspirational sources were plentiful. For example, one of the collections is inspired by the life and work of the popular mime Jean-Baptiste Debureau, modern ballet and the work of Maurice Béjart, and personalities such as Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette.

Liběna Rochová and her students worked on the theme inspired by France for two semesters. This is not the only reason why they can present a complete, thoughtfully, and precisely crafted collection. Part of the project was carried out in collaboration with Marie Claire magazine, which mapped the project and covered it on its website. Vogue CS subsequently took on the photographic documentation of part of the collection, shooting the collection in Paris for its September 2022 issue. It also caught the attention of the Studio of Photography II, which photographed it under the supervision of Štěpánka Stein. A selection of these works will also be included in the exhibition

Part of the exhibition, situated on the premises of the Czech Centre Paris, will be a tribute to Professor Libena Rochová, who led the studio for 15 years until this winter semester. The activities of the studio and her significant pedagogical contribution will be presented in a video by Jakub Jahn.

There will also be a preview of the INSIDE 23 collection, for which Liběna Rochová won the Fashion Designer of the Year 2022 award in the Czech Grand Design competition. Working with bright, optimistic colours, she expresses joy and lightness. The designer drew inspiration from visual art, this time from paintings of the artist Petr Kvíčala. The models will be complemented by photographs by Koto Bolof, shot in Paris for Vogue CS.

Liběna Rochová, together with her assistant Vojtěch Novotný, has always guided her students to be able to pursue a career in the fashion industry as well as in their work after graduation. The opportunity to regularly present their work at prestigious events both at home and abroad is a great benefit for aspiring designers. Indeed, it is a great advantage for students to present their collections directly in Paris, the centre of fashion, at such a prestigious event as Paris Design Week + Maison & Objet.
