Kamila Dvořáková in the Glass Hub selection at Venice Glass Week

Kamila Dvořáková, a student of the Studio of Glass at UMPRUM, has reached another milestone in her artistic career. At the age of only 25, she became one of the exhibitors at Venice Glass Week, an important festival for artists from all over the world working with glass. Her set of Marshmallow vases was selected for the Glass Hub installation, aimed at artists under 35. She will be featured alongside works by 17 other artists from China, Finland, the US, and other countries.
Her set of haptic Marshmallow vases has already been presented at the successful exhibition This is us! at the Glassimo Gallery in Prague. As the artist herself describes, the cornerstone of her work is about touch. She aimed to create an object that invites viewers to explore not only with their eyes but also with their hands. Dvořáková adds to the work: "In the process of creating, I explored the limits of the glass material and tried to reach a point where the viewer asks the question: 'Is this glass at all? What is this object made of?' In addition to haptics, the interaction of colors also plays an important role."
As far as the exhibition itself is concerned, it is a week-long festival that will introduce visitors to works from all over the world, with glass as the common denominator. The festival has been held in Venice since 2017 and aims to popularise and promote the art of working with glass, which has a long tradition in this field. During the festival, exhibitions, lectures, meetings, and glassmaking demonstrations are held throughout the city and the neighboring islands of Murano and Mestre.
