The A1 Studio will apply these questions to contemporary architectural practice, in which a “material turn” is collapsing the distinctions between the performances of architects, archivists, cartographers, engineers and historians.
The studio will support the creation of forms that engage with materiality and a paradigm of repair within an ontological, ecological and systemic design framework. Projects are situated in “contaminated” or potentially defutured places that register either the risks or results of unsustainable development.
