MgA. Adam Varga

(1999, Michalovce, SK)

Adam Varga is an architect and researcher focused on the intersections of art, technology, and ecology. He is currently pursuing his doctoral research at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, where he investigates robotic fabrication, computational design, and strategies for informed interventions that promote nature in urban and landscape environments. He also worked as a research assistant at KTH School of Architecture, focusing on additive manufacturing and 3D concrete printing.

Materializing the Symbio(s)cene

This research project seeks to redefine the relationship between architecture, people, and nature by addressing ecological challenges and technological advancements that are reshaping architectural practice. The central hypothesis is that the concept of "rewilding" can extend beyond ecology and conservation into the realms of contemporary architecture and urban design. At the heart of the project is the question of how rewilding can be informed, generated, and materialized through digital and technological means, while embracing the complexity and diversity of architectural production.

The methodology emphasizes computational tools, experimental approaches, new narrative exploration, and interdisciplinary collaboration—both with external experts and within the vibrant environment of UMPRUM. Research questions will be tested through case studies of various scales, ranging from urban contexts to architectural elements and fabrication prototypes. This doctoral research builds upon and expands my work, experiences, and interests from my master’s studies in the Architecture III studio at UMPRUM. Its aim is to contribute to architectural research in an era defined by computational design, transdisciplinary collaboration, innovative processes, and critical reflection.
