Interactive Media in The Documentary Genre
The interactive format is a current (non-)narrative medium that pushes the possibilities of narration, distribution and audience or user reception. The main focus is on mapping the possibilities of treating this specific subgenre, especially with regard to the familial and cultural memory of immigrant families from the Baltics and Eastern Europe still living in Siberia today. Their descendants live their own distinctive lives and try to preserve their own culture, language, traditions and pass on the family memory to the following generations. The transmediality and non-linear structure of the narrative in the interactive documentary allows to better create the multi-layered structure of memory itself and to express the complex process of remembering.
