MgA. Linda Havrlíková farms on her homestead in the spirit of sustainability and is dedicated to clothing design, which she also studies at the Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Prague, now as a Ph.D. student. At the same time, she works in the Association of the Textile-Clothing-Leather Industry. For several years, she has been actively dealing with the topic of unused local sheep's fleece for the benefit of the textile and clothing industry. With the support of the Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Prague, she managed to restore the traditional processing of wool into clothing woolen cloth - loden, which had a significant presence in the history of the Czech Republic. She cooperates with local producers on the production of the loden. Under the brand of the same name, she designs and sews tailor-made clothes from these originally 100% Czech woolen fabrics. In 2022, she founded the "Naše Vlna" project, which maps the quality of sheep's wool on the territory of the Czech Republic and seeks appropriate uses for it.
Sustainability and new materials - Eco-farming in relation to current sustainable fashion.
The starting topic for the practical part of the dissertation is the processing of local sheep's wool. The central theme is the omission of non-ecological colors in the production of fabrics. Thanks to the student grant, woolen fabrics were produced that honor the natural color of the wool of South Bohemian sheep. The author's patterns, working with three basic shades of Czech Shetland sheep fleece, gave rise to attractive fabrics even without the need for dyeing. The resulting clothing and product collection from these fabrics reflects the lives and needs of those who take care of sheep and their wool, i.e. Czech farmers and shepherds. Elements from their regular clothes are rewritten into the contemporary urban wardrobe. The set of products therefore reflects the real needs of a person, and not only in clothing. Linda Havrlíková's work is the embodiment of freedom, detachment from rules and conventional fashion.
