Směsi/Mixtures by Vendulka Prchalová at Venice Glass Week

Part of her dissertation project Mixtures, which focuses on the innovation of materials and processes for the production of molds for glass sculpture, was on display in 2019 in the UM Gallery. Now the results of her doctoral research are presented at an international exhibition in Venice, Italy.
 The exhibited objects combine themes, visuals, and technology. The basis for her work is a 3D model of a dog, which is more of a symbol of a dog embodying contradictory meanings in the history of art. Shape compositions are designed for 3D printing so that they can be transformed into glass sculptures. The objects consist of several parts connected by "imperfect" materials and thus create visual tension.

 
Vendulka Prchalová is a young glass artist. She started studying glass at secondary school, continued at FUD UJEP in the studio of Ilja Bílek, and then continued at UMPRUM in the Studio of Glass led by Rony Plesl. In her work, she focuses on the connection of classical craft and new technologies, while also connecting trends in contemporary art and traditional glassmaking.
