No Stick but Flick: Irony as a Means of Expression Describing the Technological Complexity

The project focuses on contemporary painting influenced by themes arising from technological changes, which simultaneously play a crucial role in shaping societal transformations. The aim is to develop new strategies in painting and object creation that reflect the technological essence of our world. The research is based on the premise that irony can serve as a means of expression to articulate the often ambivalent relationship with modern technologies. Another source of inspiration is the grotesque, which, through a nostalgic and at times even romantic view of technology, captures this contradictory relationship. Irony, as a central element of the project, offers a way to approach the technological challenges of today with both humor and critical distance.
