The master’s program is conceived as a six-year course and the individual studios highlight various areas of the field of architecture. The objective of the master’s program at UMPRUM is to nurture multifaceted graduates who even after graduation will develop their personalities and guarantee in the working process perfect results, exceptional inventiveness, aesthetic quality and a high degree of social sensitivity. Studio training, in which artistic concept is combined with scientific and technical work, is complemented by training in mandatory subjects of general and architectural engineering basics, history or art and architecture and art philosophy. Students can select part of their curriculum from amongst the mandatory and voluntary disciplines offered, which reflect the wide range of fields at UMPRUM, from fine art to design specialisms.
Graduates have the prerequisites for independent architectonic practice and subsequent acquisition of full certification by the Czech Chamber of Architects. They are capable of managing a creative team, leading projects and designing new and unconventional procedures in the solution of comprehensive as well as component assignments. They are equipped not only with very good knowledge of expert disciplines in the field and the ability to apply it creatively, but also with a good grounding in humanities subjects, aesthetics and both the history and current state of fine arts. They have all the prerequisites for continuing on to doctoral studies or to become valid members of research teams.
